Stonehaven Village, Maungakaramea – Affordable Lifestyle Living

The village is managed by the local community Trust and provides an attractive, affordable lifestyle for residents in the 55+ age bracket. Being part of this wonderful community provides security and companionship in park like surrounds for those seeking a relaxed, ‘country’ lifestyle.

The village bus provides a weekly trip into the city for shopping and errands as well as other organised trips out and about. A mobile library service visits the village once a fortnight providing books and DVDs. For gardening enthusiasts, the village has a communal vegetable patch with an allotment available to each resident.

Village Entry criteria is: 

· Aged 55 years or over

· Able to live independently

· Able to provide a medical certificate

Subject to the above criteria being met an interview will be arranged between the applicant and the Stonehaven Retirement Trust Board – who must approve all new Residents.

Upon approval the process of entering an “Occupation Right Agreement” (ORA) begins. 

Prospective Residents are legally required to seek legal advice before entering the Occupational Right Agreement.

Village Fees

· Site Licence Fee – $25,000 this is a one off charge applying to each new Occupation Right Agreement issued.

· Village Outgoing Fee – $111.00 per week per dwelling (includes Rates, Water, Security, House Insurance, Lawns and Village garden)

The local ‘one stop shop’ is an easy stroll from Stonehaven Village. The store caters for most. 

The local school has swimming pool and a key is available to any Stonehaven Village resident wishing to use the facility.

The Mid Western Sports complex is also close by and caters for a multitude of sports including tennis, squash, croquet, indoor and outdoor bowls, cricket and rugby. Evening meals and bar facilities are available there on Thursday and Friday evenings.
